BlackBerry Ready To Finally Shut Down BBM On May 31st

BlackBerry Messenger also known as BBM was once a very popular instant messaging app during the reign of Blackberry phones. Though the application was later available on Android and iOS, but was overthrown by WhatsApp, Telegram and others. Now, the company is planning to officially shut down the messenger app BBM on 31st May 2019.

According to a statement released by the company via a blogspot post said, the technology industry however, is very fluid and in spite of their substantial efforts, users have moved on to other platforms while new users proved difficult to sign in.

Though we are sad to say goodbye, the time has come to sunset the BBM consumer service, and for us to move on. We are grateful for your support and wish to thank everyone, especially out users, partners, and employees, for being part of the BBM consumer service journey.

We hope you will cherish many find memories of BBM consumer service that helped shape messenger platforms to become what they are today.

Meanwhile the enterprise version of the app BBMe will continue operations and still available for download for free on Android and iOS platforms. The BBMe version also offer end-to-end encryption like WhatsApp but required a $2.50 subscription free every six months.
